State Veterinary Institute Prague (SVI Prague)is public institution, organization established by Ministry of Agriculture in 1990.

SVI Prague is the governmental institute involving five departments – Pathology and Parasitology, Food Hygiene, Bacteriology (clinical), Virology and Chemistry and Toxicology. The Department of Chemistry and Toxicology of State Veterinary Institute Prague is accredited laboratory (ISO 17025) concerned with food / feed analysis and biological samples.
SVI Prague has a status of National Reference Laboratory (NRL): (i) pesticides (animal origin and high fat content samples) and (ii) PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons).
On this account, SVI Prague, Department of Chemistry and Toxicology is responsible for communication with Community reference laboratories and takes part in implementation of novel sampling and analytical strategies.
SVI Prague participates in monitoring program according to the Council Directive 96/23/EC on measures to monitor certain substances and residues. Long-time experience of SVI Prague obtained within these activities provide a guaranty of successful fulfilling of project tasks, including fish samples´ collection, introduction of PFC analytical procedure into practice and assisting other governmental laboratories to start PFC monitoring.
